Earlsfield vs AFC Cubo (Barn Doors)

12 Feb 2018 by Matt Jackson

Goalscorer: Ash Jones
MOM: Ben Aspinall

Earlsfield placed themselves against AFC Cubo for the first time this season. A debut for keeper Gus and a return for Wazza. Fortunately our pitch was in a better condition than the mud pit of Peckham last week, and it showed with early exchanges in quick passing between the Crowns.

It was in the 30th minute that Earlsfield won a free kick. Ben Aspinall quickly played Ash Jones down the wing who went on 1-1 with the keeper, with a brilliant save but Ash hit the rebound with his right foot and netted it in the top bins for 1-0. AFC Cubo were able to hit back after they launched a counter attack through the defence and lob the keeper for 1-1. Earlsfield had a few more chances in the half but were unable to capitalise on them.

The second half saw a completely dominant display as the Crowns spent the entirety of the half in Cubo’s side of the pitch, with balls flinging left right and centre. Many opportunities came and yet again Earlsfield were unable to slot home and seal the game. We just couldn’t hit a barn door….. 1-1 FT.

We drop down to third in the league and now it’s up to Gorillas or Kiwi to lose one of their two remaining games…

On to the Quarter Final next weekend!
